Are the flakes on your scalp greasy and yellow, with red skin underneath? That may be seborrheic dermatitis, a stronger relative of dandruff.

What is seborrheic dermatitis?

Seborrheic dermatitis is a common inflammatory skin condition. It shows up where the skin makes more oil, such as the scalp, eyebrows, sides of the nose and behind the ears. A yeast that lives on the skin plays a part.

Signs of seborrheic dermatitis

  • Greasy, yellow or white flakes
  • Red, itchy or burning patches
  • Flaking on the eyebrows, around the nose or behind the ears
  • Flare ups with stress, cold weather or heavy products

Not sure what it is? Show us.

Tilt your head toward a window, take a photo of the spot that worries you and send it on WhatsApp. A trichologist looks at it and tells you what to do next. No queue, no guessing.

Seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff or psoriasis?

Dandruff is the mild form, with loose flakes and no redness. Seborrheic dermatitis adds redness and greasy scale. Psoriasis gives thicker, silvery scales. They need different care, so an assessment saves time and money.

How it is controlled

  • A medicated shampoo that targets the yeast
  • A routine that removes build up without stripping the scalp
  • Lighter products on the scalp
  • Medical treatment from your doctor for strong flare ups

Would recommend them any day. They are such a friendly community, very warm and kind when it comes to their service delivery and do not get me started on the results! They do deliver on what they say and I am absolutely grateful for their support in growing my hair back to what it is today! They did make my dream come true, and finally I can get to embrace who I am fully when I look at myself in the mirror. Thank you so much Hair Hub!

I thank God that after 2 gruesome years of scalp psoriasis, I have finally found a solution that works like magic. This was only possible with the services I got from Hair Hub at Bemuda Plaza, after years of spending so much money on other hair products on the market, all in vain. The first consultation I had was with Celestine Gitau and 3 weeks later I can say without a doubt that I no longer have any flaking or itching of the scalp and the inflammation has since reduced drastically.
