What is scalp ringworm?
Scalp ringworm, or tinea capitis, is a fungal infection of the scalp and hair shafts. Despite the name, no worm is involved. It is most common in children but adults can get it too.
Signs of scalp ringworm
- Round or patchy areas of scaling
- Hair that breaks off close to the scalp, sometimes leaving black dots
- Itching and redness
- Swollen, tender areas in some cases

Tilt your head toward a window, take a photo of the spot that worries you and send it on WhatsApp. A trichologist looks at it and tells you what to do next. No queue, no guessing.
How scalp ringworm spreads
It spreads by sharing combs, brushes, caps, towels and pillows. It can also pass from pets. Clippers that are not cleaned well between clients can spread it too.
How scalp ringworm is treated
- Assessment under the microscope, with a lab sample where needed.
- Antifungal medicine taken by mouth, prescribed by a doctor. Creams alone rarely reach the hair root.
- An antifungal shampoo to reduce spread to others.
- Cleaning combs, caps and bedding. Checking the rest of the family too.

Frequently asked questions
Will hair grow back after scalp ringworm?
In most cases, yes, once the infection clears. Severe cases with scarring can cause permanent loss, so early treatment matters.
Is scalp ringworm contagious?
Yes. Avoid sharing combs, caps and towels until treatment is under way.
Can I treat scalp ringworm with cream?
Usually not on its own. The fungus lives inside the hair shaft, so medicine by mouth is normally needed.

Would recommend them any day. They are such a friendly community, very warm and kind when it comes to their service delivery and do not get me started on the results! They do deliver on what they say and I am absolutely grateful for their support in growing my hair back to what it is today! They did make my dream come true, and finally I can get to embrace who I am fully when I look at myself in the mirror. Thank you so much Hair Hub!
I thank God that after 2 gruesome years of scalp psoriasis, I have finally found a solution that works like magic. This was only possible with the services I got from Hair Hub at Bemuda Plaza, after years of spending so much money on other hair products on the market, all in vain. The first consultation I had was with Celestine Gitau and 3 weeks later I can say without a doubt that I no longer have any flaking or itching of the scalp and the inflammation has since reduced drastically.
Customer service before the procedure was smooth and engaging. The experts handled everything very professionally. 10/10 would recommend.
Their Jet Peel PRP technology is on another level. My hair is gradually coming back. I am happy.
