The big words we like using, explained to a ten year old
Hair people love long words. We use them too, because the certificates say so. Here is what they mean, with no dictionary needed.
A hair and scalp specialist. Not a hairdresser and not a dermatologist (a medical doctor who treats skin, hair and nail conditions). A trichologist studies hair and scalp only, so when a problem needs medicine or a doctor, we say so and work with yours.
Passed the exams of the International Association of Trichologists in Australia. Think of it as the driving licence for hair specialists. Muli was the first in East and Central Africa to get one.
Looking at your scalp with a camera (a trichoscope) that magnifies it hundreds of times. Hair looks like a forest. Things you cannot see in the mirror become obvious.
Follicular Unit Extraction. Taking healthy hairs one by one from the back of your head, where they tend to stay. Then planting them where they do not. No stitches, no long scar.
Platelet Rich Plasma and Growth Factor Concentrate. A small amount of your own blood, spun to concentrate the growth factors (the natural signals that tell cells to repair), then put back into your scalp. GFC is the more concentrated version.
One small bundle of one to four hairs that grow together. A transplant is counted in grafts. More grafts, more coverage, higher price. Our calculator gives you a rough number before you ask.

The people behind the microscope
Three of the most experienced hair people in East Africa, in one clinic. They still argue about which shampoo to recommend.
Muli did not plan to spend his life looking at scalps. He grew up in Machakos wanting to play football. Then he grew an afro after school, a modelling agent noticed it and hair quietly took over.
He trained as a hairdresser in Nairobi and worked for a hair care manufacturer across East Africa, where he kept meeting people whose hair loss nobody could explain. So he went to Sydney and trained with the International Association of Trichologists, coming back as the first I.A.T certified trichologist in East and Central Africa.
He has lectured at trichology forums in Houston, Melbourne, Hobart, Washington DC and Canada, was named in Business Daily Top 40 Under 40 in 2014 and features in Hairy Tales, a book profiling 54 trichologists from around the world. He founded the Afro Hair Awards in 2015. In the clinic he is the person who puts your scalp under the trichoscope and tells you plainly whether you need treatment, surgery or just a looser hairstyle.
Dr. Dindi is the reason the hairlines on this site look like they were born there and not drawn with a ruler.
He trained at the Moi University School of Medicine and then at the International Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and Aesthetic Medicine in Pune, India. He was the first surgeon to perform FUE hair transplants in the region. His particular interest is transplant surgery on African patients, whose curly follicles need a different hand from the straight hair most of the world trains on.
He is also a painter and he brings the same eye to a hairline: direction, density, the way it should soften at the temples. He operates with a full surgical team in a proper theatre and he tells you if he does not think surgery is right for you yet.
Celestine started as a nurse, which is why she is the calmest person in the room on surgery day.
She became a hair transplant technician in 2017 and has now worked on over 500 transplants, with a particular skill in extracting and placing follicles in Afro textured hair. She trained in trichology with the International Association of Trichologists and also works in cosmetic chemistry, advising hair care brands on their formulas.
In 2019 she won the International Association of Trichologists article writing award. In 2021 she spoke at the World Trichology Society virtual summit on hair transplants for Afro and ethnic hair. She tutors at the Institute of Trichologists, was a guest on the Hair Therapy podcast on textured hair transplants and writes for Eve Woman. In the clinic she is the one most likely to tell you which product in your bathroom is the problem.

Not everyone qualifies for a transplant. Maybe they just have a nutrient deficiency, or are mistreating hair, something that proper maintenance can resolve.
It's a shame that there's no research that has been done on actual African hair. When our people go to study, they use a curriculum that has been developed for the Caucasian type of hair.
Being a pioneer is a progressive thing, and I'm proud to have created a path.
